Leading Change

To lead change in schools, principals need knowledge and insight into the complex processes of change and the key drivers that make for successful change (Fullan, 2005).

I believe that I have successfully grown this area of practice by:

  • Currently participating in EduChange Leaders programme on a collaborative leadership inquiry growing autonomy for staff and students in our school. (2019)
  • Attaining Level 4 Te Reo through Te Wānanga o Aotearoa (2018)
  • Attaining Level 2 Te Reo through Te Wānanga o Aotearoa (2017)
  • Attaining Post Graduate Certificate in Applied Practice (Digital and Collaborative Learning and Leadership) - (2016)
  • Attaining my Masters of Educational Leadership (2012)
  • Promoting a collaborative and distributed leadership style and growing leaders
  • Co-leading a  two school merger through a visioning process; this required significant consultation with staff, students, and members of the school community
  • Participating in BOT training and supporting the principal leading the BOT through the process of Strategic Planning and revisioning;
  • Consulting all stakeholders re their vision for St Francis students in the future
  • Being solution focused
  • Leading implementation of Play Based Learning in Year 1-2 - St Francis of Assisi Catholic School
  • Facilitator of Middle Leaders Professional development programme for CPPA
  • Co-leading with the Principal the implementation of Project Based Learning as the preferred approach to delivering the curriculum at St Francis of Assisi Catholic School

"As a pedagogical coach the DP is in the position of leading change through from strategic intention in to practice. Creating this bridge from intention to practice is where the rubber truly hits the road. Many principals the Appraiser works with really struggle with bridging this gap throughout their entire careers."

"Being a coach to adults requires a good understanding of andragogy and the language of adult learning. The DP has some excellent skills in this area and is building her capability even further
through her work with the Middle Leaders Programme. Her work with Middle Leaders is strengthening her capability to work with her own staff."
