Partnerships and Networks

Partnerships that succeed in engaging parents with the learning of their children have been shown to contribute to improved student outcomes. (Biddulph et al, 2003).

I believe that I have successfully grown this area of practice by:
  • Improving communication with the use of Facebook communication, text alerts, Newsletters on the website
  • Regular screencastify videos to explain new learning to the parents
  • Building strong relationships with the PTA and have helped them to communicate their school involvement through the use of the website and facebook
  • Mana Ake liaison
  • Being an active member of the Te Ara TÅ«hura Learning Cluster.
  • Facilitator and Manager of the CPPA Middle Leaders Programme
  • SENCO role necessitates working alongside outside agencies, parents and health professionals, Teacher Aides and support teachers.
  • Developing strong relationships among parents, staff and children
  • Nurturing strong relationships between parish and school.
  • Participating in School Network activities and professional development.

"Teachers spoke highly of her approachability, warmth, sense of humour, and empathy.  The Appraiser finds her to be a thoughtful, insightful and self-aware educationalist to talk with.  She cares deeply about the children and teachers she works with and works tirelessly in their best interests.  Alongside the Principal she has particular strengths in building a warm, responsive and critically active culture of learning."
